Take part in the all-electric conversation by understanding a few helpful and commonly used terms:

LEVEL 3 CHARGER

Often called rapid chargers, a Level 3 Charger is the fastest type of charging available and uses direct current (DC) to fully charge EVs, often in under an hour.

LEVEL 2 CHARGER

A Level 2 Charger is the most popular type of home charging unit that provides 240-volts. Which means you’ll typically be able to fully charge an empty battery conveniently overnight or in under 8 hours.

LEVEL 1 CHARGER

A Level 1 Charger is the universal 120-volt household outlet. Known as trickle charging, this typically provides 3-5 miles of range per hour.

MPGe

This stands for “miles per gallon equivalent” and is simply a measurement of fuel efficiency for EVs.

Regenerative Braking

This function feeds energy back into an EV system every time you brake. This helps replenish range a little bit at a time.

V2L

This stands for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and is an innovative feature that lets you power external devices with the battery in your EV. For example, a coffee machine or an electric pump for inflating an air mattress while camping.*

kW & kWh

kW is the amount of power used to charge the battery. While kWh is the capacity of stored energy for the battery to use.

ACCESS A VAST CHARGING NETWORK

Beginning with 2026 models, every Genesis Electrified vehicle will feature a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing seamless access to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers^*, and upcoming access to 30,000 IONNA network chargers. Advanced in-car technology helps ensure you always have enough battery range. Built-in sensors can optimize charge and tell you how much range is left based on variables like whether the AC is running. You can also find or navigate to the nearest EV charger at the tap of a finger and find additional resources like digital manuals at the Genesis Owner's portal.
